Artist Statement
JESSICA is one of my ongoing projects that focuses on the beauty of one dancer’s body, consisting of bones, muscles and skin, and captures those elements with the same approach as still life photography. This co-production with Jessica, which can be called my life work, started in 1997 and is now in its 23rd year.
In the latest series 弧-Arc, Jessica's organic three-dimensional curves and inorganic flat curves composed of several shades of gray are captured with the same gravity, expressing the interestingness of its contrast.
A parabola that draws an arc and extends infinitely outside the screen, the end of the line that does not intersect forever… I imagined such images while shooting Jessica.
